New Student Orientation is strongly recommended for all first-time Freshman Engineering students. There are a number of programs and activities during Orientation that are of great value and indeed almost critical to a successful first year at West Virginia University. For example, while here for Orientation you will take the Chemistry Placement Test that will allow you to enter the appropriate Chemistry course. You will also receive and adjust a schedule of classes for the fall term. Finally you will have a chance to tour the campuses and have many questions about the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and West Virginia University answered.

WARNING: If you choose not to attend Orientation, you will not be permitted to generate a schedule until August at which time many of the necessary courses will be full making it difficult to complete a schedule.
