The College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and its various academic departments offer a large number of annual undergraduate scholarships to current students. Scholarship awards are split evenly between the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year unless a student is graduating in December and so notes on their scholarship application.
The College matches students' academic performance, financial need, and demographic information with the eligibility requirements of all scholarships. Students do not need to apply separately for each scholarship offered by the College.
In order to apply for College scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time in a major within the College (i.e. Mechanical Engineering) by the end of the spring 2011 semester. Freshman or Sophomore Students enrolled as Engineering, General Engineering, or Pre-engineering majors after the spring 2011 semester are not eligible. Students must complete an on-line application Students must have a current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file with the WVU Financial Aid Office by April 15th of each year to be considered for scholarship. Additional information on financial aid can be found at www.finaid.wvu.edu.
Applications are available around the first of each year and must be completed by April 15th of each year. Award decisions are made in early July after the Spring semester grades have been posted. Students will be sent letters regarding the outcome of the scholarship review process.
Since these scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, a new Scholarship Application must be completed each year. Students on a current 4-year scholarship from the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources do not need to apply for annual renewal consideration of their scholarship.
