June 21-26, 2015 (Engineering in Entertainment Co-ed High School Camp)

Are you a high school student who likes movies, music, and performing arts? Join us at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources for this year's Engineering Challenge Camp with a focus on entertainment. We will explore the engineering behind special effects, music, and technology used in the entertainment industry, while allowing campers to participate in hands-on experiments, games, and competitions.

During the evenings, our overnight campers will participate in fun, team-building local activities such as a challenge course, bowling tournament, WVU Student Rec Center activities, and ice cream socials. Overnight campers will have the opportunity to spend the night in an actual WVU residence hall.

July 5-10, 2015 (Engineering in Action Co-ed High School Camp)

Are you a high school student who likes sports and adventures? If so, this is the camp for you! We will be investigating the science and engineering behind zip-lining, cycling, and sports equipment design. We will even take a tour of Morgantown's brand new minor league baseball stadium with civil engineering professors!

Join us at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources from Sunday, July 5 through Friday, July 10 for this year's Engineering Challenge Camp with a focus on the engineering behind fun.

Each day, campers will be tasked with solving engineering related challenges that will encourage them to work hands-on, in teams to use creativity to find unique solutions to real-world problems.

During the evenings, our overnight campers will participate in fun, team-building local activities such as a challenge course, bowling tournament, minor league baseball game, and ice cream socials. Overnight campers will have the opportunity to spend the night in an actual WVU residence hall.

July 6-10 and July 20-24, 2015 (Middle School Camp)

Get the chance to experience the job of your dreams at our middle school Engineering Challenge camp! This co-ed camp for students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will give students the opportunity to learn the engineering behind many exciting professions including: astronaut, racecar driver, zoologist, stunt person, surgeon, architect, chemist, and more. The camp will demonstrate how many different careers can be tied to engineering, science, math, and technology.

Due to popular demand, we have added another week of Middle School Engineering Challenge Camp. Both weeks will have the same agenda, and campers can only register for one week of camp.

This camp will only have a day option (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

July 12-17, 2015 (STEM All-female High School Camp)

WVU's Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources will be hosting our third annual, all-female camp for high school students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics fields. The camp will have an engineering focus, but will also demonstrate how a career in engineering can be tied into forensics, pharmaceuticals, beauty product development, design and architecture, etc.

Campers will have the opportunity to meet and work with female faculty members and successful female alumnae on design projects and various competitions.

Most activities will be different than last year, but some activities may be repeated.

Female campers are encouraged to take advantage of the overnight option so they can engage with other campers, build team relationships, and enjoy the company of girls with similar interests while experiencing the college residence hall lifestyle.

July 19-24, 2015 (Maker Co-ed High School Camp)

Use your skills to create, develop, and discover at this co-ed high school Engineering Challenge Camp. This camp will allow students to build their own electronic devices including microcontrollers, fully functional single board computers, and more. Campers will be tasked with solving hands-on engineering related challenges that will encourage them to work together and use creativity to find unique solutions to real-world problems.

During the evenings, our overnight campers will participate in fun, team-building local activities such as a challenge course, bowling tournament, minor league baseball game, and ice cream socials. Overnight campers will have the opportunity to spend the night in an actual WVU residence hall.

July 13-17 and July 27-31, 2015 (Elementary Day Camps)

Due to popular demand, we have added another week of Elementary Engineering Challenge Camps. Both weeks will have the same agenda, and campers can only register for one week of camp.

We will be running our second annual elementary Engineering Challenge day camps. We will host a camp for students entering 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a separate camp for students entering 4th and 5th grade from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Each day will have a different theme, and we will have different activities than last year.

    Elementary Day Camp Themes

  • Monday- "I-Spy" Day (biometric systems theme)
  • Tuesday- "Truss" Me Day (civil engineering theme)
  • Wednesday- Holy "Mole"-y Day (chemical engineering theme)
  • Thursday- "Hello World" (computer science theme)
  • Friday- "Engine"eer Day (mechanical engineering theme)

Snacks will be provided throughout the day at these camps, but lunch will not be provided.
