Industrial Extension Program

The Industrial Extension Service of WVU's College of Engineering and Mineral Resources taps the expertise of WVU to provide technical assistance to West Virginia industry. Since 1996, Industrial Extension has been an integral part of the West Virginia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WVMEP). WVMEP is a non-profit provider of manufacturing consulting services to West Virginia industry. Services available range from production process improvement and quality systems to environmental management systems and health and safety. Services are customized to the specific needs of individua companies. WVMEP's mission is to improve the competitiveness of West Virginia manufacturers by helping them lower costs, increase sales, and strengthen profitability. The integration of Industrial Extension with the WVMEP allows WVMEP to address a broad range of engineering issues confronting manufacturers and, at the same time, to bring the resources and expertise of WVU to meet the needs of industry in West Virginia.
WVMEP is an affiliate of the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Another key partner is the West Virginia Development Office. Support from WVDO, combined with the support of NIST and WVU, provide WVMEP with the necessary resources to meet the needs of industrial companies in West Virginia at very reasonable cost.
WVMEP has offices around the state to make access to our services as easy and convenient as possible. Beckley, Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg, Bridgeport, Romney, Wheeling, and Morgantown are current locations.
