Dr. Rider has worked for several years as a manufacturing and ergonomics consultant, and conducted ergonomic analyses using human motion capture and digital human modeling. His previous research has been funded by commercial (e.g. US Postal Service, UGS), industrial (e.g. Ford, General Motors), and government agencies, such as the US Army, which principally sponsored his doctoral thesis on modeling and predicting the effects of vehicle ride motion on the performance of in-vehicle reaching tasks.
