Dr. Nimbarte's research interest is in the general area of work related musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). So far he has worked on the research projects evaluating the etiology of different types of work-related MSD such as low back disorders, carpel tunnel syndrome, and cervical spine disorders. His recent work mainly focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of cervical spine disorders due to forceful arm exertions. He is using multidisciplinary integrated approach by coupling the experimental
methods (electromyography, motion, and force data) with biomechanical modeling techniques (optimization, musculoskeletal modeling) to understand the loading of cervical spine during variety of forceful arm exertions. His long term goal is to develop effective control strategies by studying the work activities of different working populations under different conditions.
