Study Labs

Study Labs

The CEMR Study Labs offer academic assistance in the following subjects

  • Chemistry (110 & 115)
  • Physics (111)
  • Mathematics (126, 128, 129, 153, 154, 155, & 156)
  • Engineering (ENGR 101, 102, 199, & 293)

Each study lab is staffed with engineering upperclassmen or graduate students who have performed well in these subjects.  These tutors are there to answer questions that arise during homework and study session, and will also hold review sessions before major exams.

Study labs are open to all engineering students, but are required for those students taking ENGR 101, 102, 199, or 293.

Completing the Study Lab Requirement

There are three (3) ways to complete the weekly Freshman Engineering Study Lab requirement.

Study Lab Credit

Attendance is tracked for study labs (and the accepted subsitutes) by the Freshman Engineering Office.  You can check your Study Lab Attendance anytime online.  It is the responsibility of the student to periodically check the attendance record to ensure accuracy.

Study Lab Exemptions

Students may be exempt from the required study labs via one of three ways:

  • Students not enrolled in the math or science classes covered by the Study Lab Program (listed above) will be exempted from study labs for the entire semester (student schedule printed from STAR must be turned in with proper documentation).

  • Students with a 3.5 GPA at the end of the previsous semester (attended at WVU) are exempt for the first 8 weeks of the semseter (no documentation required).

  • Students who earn an A average in their math, science, and engineering classes will be exempt from the week they turn in the proper documentation.

It is the responsibility of the student to check the Study Lab Attendance to make sure these exemptions are recorded.
