More than 100 faculty members and 700 students are at the heart of the graduate programs of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University.

Graduate students are highly involved in our growing research program. In recent years, annual research expenditures have increased by about 6% per year, reaching nearly $27 million in 2006-2007.

Graduate students at both the master's and doctoral levels work under expert faculty members in state-of-the-art facilities. In recent years, we have invested more than $27 million in new and upgraded facilities and technology, including a four-story addition that will open in July 2008.

Much of today’s research is cross-disciplinary. Students work with faculty and peers from a wide range of disciplines across the University and around the world, as well as with industrial and government sponsors and partners.

In recent years, we have focused on developing new programs in nanoscience and engineering, biometrics and identity technologies, polymer engineering and alternative energy, to name a few, but our graduate programs remain broad-based and our commitment to excellence in graduate education across the disciplines is unchanged.
