Margaret Moats Hall, a 1980 graduate of our College with a master's degree in industrial engineering, will deliver a College Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 9. The lecture, "Three Guys and a Gal: Getting a Life, Getting Ahead," will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Room G-39 of the Engineering Sciences Building. A reception will follow the lecture, which is open to the public. Hall is an Indiana native who earned three degrees from WVU, including a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1973, a master's degree in environmental planning in 1976, and a second master's, in industrial engineering, in 1980. She has been with the IBM Corporation throughout her professional career, beginning in 1977 as a systems engineer in the Data Processing Division and holding positions of increasing responsibility. She currently serves as the World Wide Operations Program Manager for IBM Global Business Services, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Hall is a member of the Research Triangle Chapter of WVU Alumni Association, a member and past chair of the WVU Industrial Engineering Advisory Organization, and a member of the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Advisory Committee. She was inducted into the WVU Academy of Industrial Engineers in 1996, and has served as its president since 2003. She has also been active with United Way, the Girl Scouts of America, I/S Explorer Post 100, and the Child Care Resource and Referral of Wake County. Margaret is married to James "Jay" Lanier Hall of Morgantown, also an alumnus of WVU with bachelor's (1973) and master's (1980) degrees in electrical engineering.
