The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering will host Jon H. Rateau, vice president of Global Primary Products Growth Group at Alcoa, as part of the Gochenour Lecture Series. The lecture, entitled, "What Industrial Engineering Did for Me," will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 6, in Room 113 of the Mineral Resources Building.

Mr. Rateau is a 1981 graduate of WVU with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He joined the Global Primary Products Growth Group in 1996. Prior to working for the Global Primary Products Growth Group, he spent 16 years with National Steel Corporation in various roles, including strategic sourcing, operations, engineering, and research and development.

During much of his career, Mr. Rateau served as a large industrial customer advocate in the areas of domestic utility regulation and legislation. He also served as speaker and panelist for Executive Enterprises, Center for Business Intelligence, World Congress, Infocast, and others, addressing a wide range of current energy issues, including market deregulation and reform, specific sector strategies, and impact of globalization on world energy markets.

Mr. Rateau is currently the chairman of Quest Resource Corporation, a fully integrated natural gas and oil exploration and production company. He has also served as a member of the management board of Pace Global Energy Services. In addition to his bachelor's degree from WVU, he earned an MBA from Michigan State University. He lives with his wife, Emily, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The couple has four adult sons and one grandson.

The Donald L. Gochenour Lecture Series was established in 1985 to honor the late Dr. Gochenour, a distinguished professor of industrial engineering at WVU.
