Financial Aid/Scholarship Deadlines Approaching

Important information for students concerning financial aid and scholarships:

FAFSA Dealine March 1 - In order to be eligible for any financial aid or scholarships through WVU or the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources (whether need-based or merit-based), students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 1. For information, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov

Scholarship Application Deadline April 15 - The College and its departments offer many undergraduate scholarships, typically for fall and spring semesters, with varying levels of scholarship set by the donor. The College will match students' academic performance, financial need, and demographic information with the appropriate scholarships. (Students do not need to apply separately for each scholarship offered by the College.)

To apply for any College scholarships, you must be a full-time student enrolled in a major (i.e., Mechanical Engineering, not General Engineering) as of the fall 2009 semester.

You must also complete the on-line CEMR Undergraduate Scholarship application, available at www.cemr.wvu.edu/academics/scholarships.php. This application must be completed by April 15.

To receive a scholarship, you must meet all the eligibility requirements of the scholarship, and have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file with the WVU Financial Aid Office by March 1. (See above.)

Award decisions are made in early June after spring semester grades have been posted. You will receive a letter regarding the outcome of your scholarship application.

Many scholarships are renewable, but you must continue to meet the qualifications and reapply each year.

So, to apply for a scholarship, remember, you must:

1) Submit the FAFSA by March 1, available at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

2) Fill out the scholarship application by April 15, available at www.cemr.wvu.edu/academics/scholarships/form/index.php

If you have any questions, please contact ryan.sigler@mail.wvu.edu.
