Tau Beta Pi Collecting Used Bicycles

Tau Beta Pi member James Maley, an aerospace engineering major, worked to repair a bike during a previous bike drive.

If your basement has a bicycle you're not riding, or your kids have outgrown theirs, now's your chance to pass them on to someone who will enjoy them.

Engineering students at West Virginia University are getting ready for their annual bike drive, which will take place March 23 to 27.

Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honorary, is co-sponsoring the drive with Positive Spin, a local nonprofit organization. The groups will repair the bikes and donate them to area residents in need.

Donors may drop off used but repairable bikes - for children or adults - at any of three locations:

  • The WVU Area 41 parking lot behind the Engineering Sciences Building on the Evansdale Campus
  • Positive Spin, which is located at Grand Central Station in Sunnyside
  • The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Marilla Park behind the skate park

For more information, contact Neil Buzzard at nbuzzard@mix.wvu.edu or call Positive Spin at (304) 276-0213.
